Impaired Teen Causes Loma Rica Head on Accident

A Grass Valley teenager is now under arrest following  a head on collision at 6 o’clock this morning. CHP Officer Cornwall says the accident happened on Loma Rica Drive near the airport. The eighteen year old from Nevada City was driving at a high rate of speed, when she and her two passengers crossed over the double yellow line. Officer Cornwall says the teenager was driving a Honda Accord when she struck a 52 year old woman head on in a Chevrolet Blazer.

“A Honda Accord was traveling approximately 55-60 miles per hour in a 35 mile an hour zone and entered the corner too fast and drifted into the opposing lane and collided head on into the other vehicle.”

The three people from the Honda and the female from the Blazer were all taken to Sierra Nevada Hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries are not known. The CHP has taken the teenager into custody for driving under the influence.  Officer Cornwall says speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the collision.
