Investigation Still Underway in Barn Fire

Fire Investigators are still looking at the cause of a barn fire Friday afternoon. Penn Valley Fire Chief Gene Vanderplats says when fire fighters arrived the structure was almost on the ground. The Chief says his department along with a fire investigator from Calfire are looking at the cause.

“We don’t know the cause yet, but apparently it was a shop type building. It was fully involved and almost on the ground by the time our crews arrived.”

The Chief says all the equipment in the barn along with a motor home were completely destroyed. He was not able to give a amount of loss to the structure and the items inside. Several explosions were reported when the fire started. The Chief is saying the reported explosions were from solvents and tanks store in the barn.
