An overview of the impact of the homeless population on our county will be the focus of a joint cities/town and county meeting at Fire Station 2 in Grass Valley Thursday. Grass Valley Mayor Jan Arbuckle says the city of Grass Valley has the only shelter for the homeless in Hospitality house.
“Obviously, we can’t solve the homeless problem, but we can absolutely adjust what our options are and my hope is from this meeting, that we can come up with some next steps of what we can do to adjust it. Because right now, Grass Valley takes on the burden of taking care of the homeless by having the only shelter here, Hospitality House.”
Speakers include Nevada county Health and Human Services Director Jeff Brown will discuss the impacts to county services, schools, and other service agencies. for potential solutions Joyce Perman from Continuum of Care and Nevada city councilwoman Renette Senum will speak on Health and Human services at the meeting on Sierra College Drive at 1 in the afternoon this Thursday.
