Knife and Drugs Located after Traffic Stop

A long knife and methamphetamine located in a vehicle following a traffic stop Wednesday night. A CHP officer on routine patrol spotted a vehicle with out-of-state plates that quickly turned down a side street near Empire St and South Auburn Streets. The officer followed the car and ran the Minnesota license plate which returned no result for the vehicle.

CHP Officer Greg Tassone says as the officer began to initiate a stop, the vehicle abruptly pulled over to the side of the street and stopped. The vehicle occupants told the officer they were lost and were going to ask for his assistance.

At that point he detains the passenger and investigates further.

The methamphetamine is associated with the passenger identified as 22 year old Jerry Scott.
Scott is taken into custody for possession of a concealed dagger and possession of methamphetamine.
The driver was cited for possession of marijuana.
The car was determined to not be stolen.
