People on probation with search and seizure as part of their probation terms can expect a visit from law enforcement. Nevada County Sheriff Keith royal says people convicted of drug possession are given as part of their probation an understanding that law enforcement can search them, their home, or car any time. The Sheriff says judges releasing people prior to their trial will also place the same restriction on the person.
“Generally speaking, individuals who are involved in drug charges, many times are also involved in property crimes where they steal to support their drug habit. So it’s a twofold approach.”
The Sheriff says the two fold approach is making sure the people are not using drugs and recovering stolen property.
