Four Dogs from Nevada County were on the roster of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog show at Madison Square Garden in New York City that concluded last night. Two of them are Portuguese Water Dogs, bred by Chuck Teasley the President of the local Gold Country Kennel Club. One of his dogs, Emmy was the number 2 Portuguese water dog in the country this last year and finished second in her breed at Westminister. And Adam, a smooth coat Fox Terrier handled by Eddie Boyes of Grass valley was the Best of Breed at the Dog show last year. Teasley says Adam finished his career last night at Westminister with another award.
“Adam finished off his career last night. He was the defending winner of the Terrier group and to have placed second, I’m sure was a little bittersweet in that he’s had a fabulous career. I mean, over 50 Best in Shows.”
The other dog from Nevada County is Jumanji who took best of Breed for the Entlebucher Mountain Dog in the herding group. Jumanji is owned by veterinarian Rebecca Hahn of Grass valley and handled by Lauren House. The Entlebucher was one of 6 new breeds entered to the Dog show this year. .A little Pekingese is the best of show winner at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this year. The ball of fur named Malachy was judged Best in Show out of more than a thousand dogs entered.
