A man reaching for an item in his pickup lost control early Tuesday morning. CHP Public Information Officers Mark Morrison says the accident happened on Highway 49 near Oak Drive. Officer Morrison says a 20 year old man from Nevada City lost control of his 2000 Ford pickup, when he ran off the right side of the road and tried to overcorrect. Officer Morrison says the driver overcorrected too aggressively and went across the highway.
“His vehicle shot back to the opposite shoulder, went into the dirt shoulder and hit drainage ditch. This movement and impact caused the vehicle to roll over. The top of his vehicle also struck a tree and finally came to rest.”
The driver was not seriously injured in the accident. Officer Morrison says taking the drastic measure of turning the steering wheel to sharply it usually causes further problems.
