The Grass Valley Marine Corp League is holding their first Semper Fi Spaghetti Feed is this Friday March 30th from 6 to 10 at the Grass Valley Veterans Memorial Building. The Nevada Union High School Jazz Band will provide entertainment and veteran Gary Miller says the meal will be meatless which, during lent, means anyone can enjoy the meal.
“The provider of the spaghetti sauce is Barilla and they’re giving us a meatless spaghetti sauce, or marinara sauce and that’s all we’re using. So we’ll have tossed salad along with that and we’re going to have French bread, again, donated by Truckee Sourdough. We have a lot of help in putting this on and we can satisfy those people that are concerned about eating meat on Friday.”
Tickets are ten dollars for adults children 12 and under are free. Marine Dave Voors says the money will be used to benefit local veterans.
“We have our own Adopt a Squad program. So when the Marines from Sacramento are deployed around the world, those people first because they’re the closest Marine unit to our area, we contribute money to Friends of the Nevada County Military. So we support the troops year round, we support wounded warriors and Fisher House. For those who don’t know what Fisher House is, it’s kind of like a Ronald McDonald House for military families.”
No host bar and a bake sale silent auction will be going on as well. Tickets will be available at the door or you can get more information about the event and also about membership by going to (www) MCL885 dot org.
