The Meals on Wheels program in Nevada County ins now receiving more funding.. Executive Director of gold Country Community Services Jake Jacobson says last Friday the Area 4 Agency on Aging Governing board accepted a change in designation for the local program, leading to the additional funds.
“Well, they considered us to be a rural agency rather that an urban agency in terms of our home delivered meal programs and our congregate meal programs. What that means for us is rather than a $5.00 per meal reimbursement from state and federal sources, we’ll now get $5.75 per meal which brings us another $20,000 in revenue to help us support our program each year.”
Meals on Wheels delivers an average 150 meals a day in Western Nevada County.
