A 3 day Conference hosted by the Sierra Fund is underway in Nevada City to take a look at the Toxic Legacy of Mining and the impacts on local residents. The conference opened yesterday with a keynote address from California Department of conservation Director Mark Mechodom, and today SYRCL and the Sierra Fund are teaming up to present a series of films . Lori Van Laanen manages the Wild and Scenic Film Festival on Tour and describes what’s being presented.

The film session is this afternoon from 1 to 4 at the Miners Foundry. This part of the conference is FREE and open to the public - people are invited to drop by. Registration to the conference is $20 and includes several field trips . Van Laanen says SYRCL will lead one of them.
