A man reported missing Tuesday night has been found safe at the South Fork of the Yuba River. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says a 49 year old Grass Valley man was reported missing when he left Purdon Crossing going to a camp site to retrieve several sleeping bags. A family friend went to look for the missing man and was not able to locate him. The Sheriff says a massive search effort was mobilized at 3 a.m. yesterday (Wednesday) morning.
“We had seventeen of our search and rescue volunteers, five canine handlers and three of our deputies respond and be involved in this search effort. Ultimately, the team was successful. They did find our missing individual who was a 49 year old male from Grass Valley. Apparently they found him sleeping on one of the beaches along the river.
He was located three quarters of a mile north of Purdon Crossing. The missing man was found to be in good condition. There was no information as to why he had not returned.
