Montoliva Wins Best in Class

Congratulations to Montoliva vineyard and winery in Chicago Park for winning the Best of Class Award at the 2012 San Francisco Chronicle Wine competition. Winners were announced January 6th with 5500 wines competing. Owner and wine maker Mark Henry along with his wife Julianne entered 3 of their locally produced wines. It was the 2008 Sierra Bella which won the big prize in the competition.

“The category of blended Italian varietals and it’s a very big class in the San Francisco Chronicle wine competition and we won best of class, which meant that, not only did it win a gold medal, but then it was judged with all the other wines in that class that won gold medals and was determined to be the best of the best.”

The award winning wine is available for tasting along with many other Tuscan inspired old style wines at the winery on Mount Olive Road. Montiliva Vineyards invites the community to the 5th annual Valentine’s Day dinner at Basement Wines in Colfax with a winemaker’s dinner pairing and Montoliva wines with each dinner course.
