Motorcyclist Attempts to Evade Grass Valley CHP

On Thursday afternoon a California Highway Patrol Officer watched a high speed motorcycle in excess of 80 miles per hour traveling westbound on state route 20 south of the Ponderosa over crossing. As the officer made a U-turn to conduct an traffic stop the motorcyclist increased his speed and led the officer on a pursuit. Officer Jeff Pingree with the Grass Valley CHP office says the motorcyclist dropped his bike and fled on foot.

“We ended up dumping his motorcycle and fled on foot. Our helicopter happened to be up in the area and was able to spot the driver of the motorcycle and an arrest was made.”

The driver, 20 year old Shane Daniel Venberg of Grass Valley was located walking down the neighboring road and arrested for evading arrest and driving without a license.
