Motorcyclists Throws Molotov Cocktail into Home in North San Juan

A Molotov Cocktail failed to ignite at a home in North San Juan. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says 40 year old Kennan Browning was riding his motorcycle around several women’s home Saturday morning. The Sheriff says shortly after noon the first caller reported that Browning had returned and thrown something at her home. The Sheriff says deputies found a broken bottle and a strong smell of gas in the front of the home.

“We found a bottle that had been broken, but in the neck of the bottle was a piece of paper and it was evident that it had been set on fire, but apparently had gone off and you could smell gasoline that had been in the container and there was still some left in one of the broken parts of the the bottle.”

The Sheriff says the flames in the wick of the bottle apparently went out when it was thrown. Deputies found Browning on Highway 49 and gave chase. After several miles he was taken into custody for suspicion of arson, evading officers and violation of probation.
