Mountain Lion Spotted Near Alta Sierra School

A report of a mountain lion sighting at Alta Sierra School has staff on alert. Acting Principal Tina Toft of the Alta Sierra School says one parent reported seeing what they thought was the mountain lion near the school. Toft says all school personal have been alerted and e-mails have gone out notifying parents. She says there have been no sightings on the school grounds.

“We have alerted our staff to be on the lookout. If we do see one, we’ll have the students all back into the classrooms and we have notified families that there was a possible sighting.”

School officials have notified Animal Control of the reported sighting. Toft says parents have also been alerted to the danger to students walking to and from school.
