It’s been talked about for over eight months, and now it looks like it’s about to become a reality. The Nevada City City Council is expected to adopt an ordinance tonight that would ban plastic bags.
City Manager Dave Brennan says a ten-cent fee will be charged for those bags.
There will be some exemptions, including restaurants, which will still be able to provide the plastic bags until 2016. Tonight will be the second reading of the ordinance, and then a vote. If passed tonight, the ten-cent fee would be enacted in three months.
