The Nevada County Historical Society invites the public to join them on a guided tour to the You Bet and old Red Dog towns and mining sites tomorrow (Saturday September 29th) led by the Author of “California You Bet – Gold Fever,” Jerry Brady. Brady’s family grew up in the mining town of You Bet and other members of the Brady family plan to give a detailed description of Placer and hydraulic mining in the 1930’s. Brady says one fascinating story is about Ah TIE and the Chinese miner’s who made thousands of dollars with a stake at You Bet, before they were run off.
The fire was the end of Chinese mining at You Bet.
People who would like to go on the tour can meet up at the Veterans Memorial Building parking lot at the corner of Pine and Cottage Streets at 8:30 tomorrow morning. Bring Clothes and shoes for walking, lunch and water and a folding chair. The group will car pool to the sites and return around 2:30 p.m.
A flyer with information is on the Nevada County Historical Society website at http://www.Nevada County History.org
