NCTV, Nevada County’s local Access Public Television is preparing for a move and a new name. NCTV, which broadcasts an eclectic assortment of local shows and government meetings for years, has operated out of the National Guard Armory on Ridge Road. When the Governor announced state armories would be sold, that set NCTV on a quest for a new home. NCTV Executive Director Paul Minicucci says NCTV will become a new non profit in its own right called the Nevada County Digital Media Center. And Grass Valley, the Video solutions technology Company located in the Tech Center in Nevada City has offered NCTV studio space and support.
“We will actually have two sites. One will be within Grass Valley Group’s campus and of course, Grass Valley is the world renowned producer of switchers and television cameras and things like that. We will also have a studio down at Nevada Union.”
The Studio at Nevada Union High School will also be used to create digital media courses that will qualify for transfer to the UC and CSU systems. NCTV has also launched a new website at Nevada County TV dot Org. (www.nevadacountytv.org.) where government and community programming is offered live and on demand.
