New Captain at Truckee PD

The Truckee Police Department announced the appointment of a new police captain.  Robert Leftwich was selected from a group of internal candidates on April 2, 2012. Truckee Police Chief Adam McGill says Leftwich was the right fit.

“Rob has been with the department about two years. He comes from Santa Rosa and I believe he’s about a 17 year veteran. A lot of his experience is in the narcotics world; a lot of experience in investigations, very immersed in the community and rose through the promotional process and demonstrated the leadership traits that I think the department needs at this time. Rob just brought that extra leadership ability that I think the department is in need of at this moment.”

Captain Leftwich will lead the Operations Division which includes patrol, traffic, marine unit, reserve officers and the department’s volunteer program.  The Truckee Police Department has two police captains who lead 30 department employees consisting of officers and support staff.  Both captains report directly to the Chief of Police.

Captain Leftwich lives in Truckee with his wife, Maria and his 7 year old son Parker.
