Occupy Nevada County Hosts a Teach In Saturday

Occupy Nevada County will be working with local groups to offer a festival and Teach-In in Nevada City Saturday January 21st. According to organizer Joe Crain the purpose of this event is to raise awareness about how unlimited money in politics harms our democracy.

“I’m going to go. I’m going to learn about why the corporations pushed to have this pass, take this all the way to the Supreme Court and why the Supreme Court decided that corporations are people and they are allowed constitutional rights to influence elections with their big banks.”

The festival will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Nevada City United Methodist Church, with children’s games, music and informational displays from local groups.  At 11:30, a parade will head down Broad Street to Robinson Plaza for a rally. After returning to the church for a simple lunch, the Teach-In will start at 1:00 p.m.   This is one of many events being held around the country on Saturday as part of a “National Day of Action,” the local Occupy Nevada County at http://www.occupynevadacounty.org/
