Officers never known what is behind a door when they knock. Grass Valley Police Sergeant Steve Johnson says officers went to a residence on Hughes Road Monday afternoon. Officers were checking on the welfare of the resident. Sergeant Johnson says after repeatedly trying to get the resident to open the door she threw the door open and confronted the officers.
The woman and the officer were both taken to the hospital for treatment. The Sergeant says the yellow liquid turn out to be ammonia. The Officer was treated and released. The Sergeant says the female resident is still under treatment at Sierra Nevada Hospital. No criminal charges are being sought against the elderly woman.
