Pedestrian Hit in Grass Valley

Shortly after 4:30pm Thursday afternoon, Grass Valley Police responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the entrance to southbound Hwy 49 and Tinloy St. Sgt. Jason Perry says the pedestrian apparently attempted to cross the street against a red light.*

The pedestrian, Thomas Shea, 63 yrs of Grass Valley, was struck by Joseph McKenzie, 28 of Grass Valley in a white Infiniti.
Shea was subsequently transported by Helicopter to Sutter Roseville Hospital and is currently listed in critical condition.
At this time, police have no evidence that McKenzie was operating under the influence or exceeding posted speed limits.
The accident remains under investigation.
