Penn Valley Man Arrested for Domestic Violence

A Penn Valley man is under arrest after choking his girlfriend. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says Deputies were called to a home in the Penn Valley Mobile Home Park Friday evening. The Sheriff says 46 year old Robert Shields had been drinking and was told to leave the home earlier in the day. The Sheriff says he returned even more intoxicated and confronted the victim.

“Again, our victim told him he wasn’t allowed into the residence and told him to leave and he became belligerent and then violent. He apparently pushed her up against the door jamb, choked her and then with a closed fist, struck her, causing her to fall to the side.”

Shields was located at another home and taken into custody without incident. He was charged with suspicion of domestic violence and false imprisonment. The victim was not seriously injured in the altercation.
