Penn Valley Man Arrested for False Imprisonment and Abuse

A Penn Valley man was jailed after his girlfriend showed significant injury after a violent attack. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says the incident was first reported early Sunday morning; when the victim went to Sierra Nevada Hospital for treatment. Sheriff Royal Deputies found the victim had injures to her entire upper body.

“We found bruising to the upper body and arms, we found a number of bruising injuries on her face, on her eyes, nose, neck.”

The victim was afraid to continue the report for fear of the suspect.  The victim claims she was allegedly   held for 7 hours against her will, and also claims that the suspect said he would hang her and stage her death as a suicide and kill her mother if she talked to police.

“She was hesitant to report what had transpired earlier in the day because she was afraid of retaliation by the suspect.”

On Monday the victim again contacted Deputies to continue the investigation. The suspect, 59 year old John Warren Burger of Penn Valley was taken into custody at his Biladew Lane home and charged with suspicion of spousal abuse, threats, false imprisonment, intimidating a witness, violation of probation and violation of parole.
