Penn Valley Motorcylist Injured in Deer Collision

A Penn Valley man hit a deer while riding his motorcycle Friday morning. CHP Public Information Officer Mark Morrison says the 67 year old man was riding his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle on McCourtney Road shortly after five in the morning, when he says a deer ran out in front of him.

“A deer ran out from one of the adjoining fields into his path and he really didn’t have any time to react or avoid the deer and subsequently struck the deer. It ejected him from his motorcycle. Luckily he was wearing his helmet.”

The rider was taken to the hospital with a possible concussion. The deer died at the scene. Officer Morrison is cautioning drivers to be extra careful at this time of year for animals in the road.
