PG&E is Cautioning Customers Against Fraudulent Calls About Discount Gas

PG&E says they have been hearing from customers about a new, telephone scam that offers customers a discount on gas service because of “new government regulations.”  PG&E Spokes person Brittney McKannay says don’t give financial information over the phone.

“They ask customers to give billing information as well as other personal information and we want to make sure our customers know that this is not coming from PG&E. PG&E will never ask for personal information or a credit card number over the phone. If you receive a call like this, we recommend that if you’ve provided any credit information or personal information that you contact the bank or the credit card company and local law enforcement.”

Some customers report that the caller ID on their phone indicates the call is coming from PG&E.
