Planning Department and City of Grass Valley Begin Review of Bear River Mills Site

The County’s acquisition of property for a Corporation Yard on the old Bear River Mills site has kindled new interest in the ultimate development of the County property and surrounding parcels. The current designation of “Business Park”, which seemed very appropriate years ago, now appears to  not provide for the highest and best use of these parcels.  A majority of the area is within Grass Valley’s Sphere of Influence and after consulting with the City, the Planning Department and the City of Grass Valley are preparing to initiate an analysis of existing uses, available and planned infrastructure, and potential future uses. This will include a public outreach program, so that the resulting General Plan and Zoning designations best fit the potential future development in this gateway area.

A detailed work program is currently under development and will be presented to the Board for consideration in the near future.
