Reno Motorcyclist Killed in Gold Run Accident

Yesterday afternoon, as the sun was setting a motorcyclist lost control of his bike on Highway 20 west bound near Bear Valley, near Bowman near the county line. the solo accident involved a 57 year old male from Reno. Gold Run CHP Officer Mike Pugh, describes the accident.


“For unknown reasons, as he came around a curve, kind of straightened it out and then crossed into opposing lanes onto the shoulder and hit some rocks. He was pronounced dead on scene.”


CHP, US Forest Service, Truckee fire dept, Placer County responded as well as a passing motorist, who happened to be a medical doctor, stopped and pronounced the man dead at the scene. No cause has been determined other than the setting sun may have interfered with his line of sight. The highway was reduced to one lane metered traffic for 4 hours yesterday afternoon while the coroner was on scene. Drugs or alcohol are no considered a factor in this accident. The accident is still under investigation.
