Residents Near Deer Creek Hear Cries for Help, Search Comes up Empty

Search crews are in the Deer Creek area around Champion Mine Road and the Deer Creek Tribute Trail searching for any signs of a man, and possibly a child,  following a report of a resident in the area hearing screams for help coming from the creek bed area, according to Lt. Shannon Moon with the Nevad county Sheriff’s office.

The calls came in shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday and Sheriff’s deputies reported to the area at approximately 7:06 p.m. A helicopter is in the area, but due to the dense canopy they are having a difficult time. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office at (530) 265-7880.
