Robbery Suspect Arrested

Grass Valley Police took a man into custody Saturday evening after an attempted robbery at a Sutton Way Business. Grass Valley Police Captain Rex Marks says police received the call from the store Loss Prevention Officer.

“Just before 5:00 officers responded to the Rite Aid on Sutton Way in Grass Valley in response to an individual who was reported to have attempted to steal a bottle of alcohol from the establishment.”

The suspect was confronted by the security officer in the store and reportedly took a swing at him before fleeing the store.  Grass Valley Police located 30 year old Joseph McRoberts in the Bank of America Parking lot where he was taken into custody.   Captain Marks says McRoberts was also found to have a plastic baggie of marijuana concealed in his mouth. He was booked into the county jail on $50,000 bail.
