The suspect who led authorities on a high speed chase through Rough and Ready Thursday has turned himself in. Antonio Torres of Oakley Ca, surrendered Monday at the Nevada County Court House on an outstanding warrant. Torres did not however confess to the vehicle theft of a blue Honda and fleeing from officers to the Rough and Ready area where he abandoned the car and fled on foot. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says those charges are being filed and Torres will have another warrant for his arrest on the new charges.
“Yesterday he did turn himself in on the outstanding warrant that was issued for his arrest that was based on drug charges. Regarding the incident that occurred last Thursday, at this point in time, we are filing additional charges to be placed against him. Probably an addition warrant will be forthcoming for the rest of those charges.”
Torres was booked into the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility for possession of a controlled substance and is out on $18 thousand $500 dollars bail.
