After 15 years of fund raising and construction, the Rough and Ready Fire Protection District has announced the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new $2.5 million dollar station. Rough and Ready Fire Chief Don Gannon says one of the biggest improvements from their old station is location.
“We’re in the middle of town, for one thing. In the center of town where things are at are on the main highway. Before, we were a mile up a dead end road. It’s designed as a fire house. The other building functioned, but it was not built as a fire house. It was just a metal building.”
The Chief says the building will be named the H Bruce Davison Building after long time member Harry Bruce Davison.
“He has been on the department for 43 years and a few years back, one of our at one of our appreciation dinners, we were trying to figure out what to do for him because he had been here for so long, and we thought, ‘well, when we build the new building, we’ll name it after him.”
The ribbon cutting event is Saturday January 28th starting a 10:30am located at 14506 Rough and ready highway in downtown rough and ready. There will be speakers and tours of the facilities as well as a lunch to celebrate the ribbon cutting and dedication.
