Salvation Army needs Drivers Vehicles for IFM Food Distribution

The Salvation Army is supporting Interfaith Ministries in handing out near 800 holiday food baskets this and next week. Martha Sheppard with Salvation Army says the Interfaith Food Ministry will be able to use the parking lot at the Church of Christ which is just 2 blocks away, but they need licensed drivers with minivans or 4 door cars so they can shuttle the families and help alleviate the traffic issues on the surrounding neighborhood.

“What Interfaith Food Ministries has is a little parking lot with like, 14 car slots, and so it’s very hard to get in and they service probably 200-300 families each day when it’s the holidays like this. So people just circle around and circle around and it’s really hard on the neighborhood. So we said ‘Okay, what can we do to help?”

The Salvation Army is hoping to recruit about 10 drivers and vehicles for the distributions which are Wednesday and Friday of this week and next Monday, from 9am to 1pm.  Call the Salvation Army at 274-3500 if you can help.
