Sanitation Department Wants You to Think Green

According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the average American throws away 25% more ‘stuff’ between Thanksgiving and the New Year! The Nevada county Department of Public works is asking residents to “go green” this holiday season and reduce waste. Daria Kent, recycling technician says shopping local is a good place to start.

“Of course, shopping locally is always the preferred way because we get to support our local merchant and not wasting gasoline and taking your own bags so you don’t have to get paper or plastic.”

Waste management will follow their tradition of collecting Christmas trees at curbside as well as strategically placing drop boxes in western Nevada County.  Watch for future notifications announcing times and places.
