Search and Rescue Fund Raiser

A recent fund raising effort was a success according to the head of the Search and Rescue team. Nevada County Sheriff’s Corporal Bill Netherby says the team received close to four thousand dollars in a raffle and barbecue held over the last weekend. Corporal Netherby says the top two items raffled off were gold nuggets. A man from Nevada City won the first prize and a woman from Camptonville won the second prize. Corporal Netherby says the first prize was a nugget over an ounce in weight.

“The first prize nugget was over an ounce of gold, and given the cost of gold, somewhere in the neighborhood of $2,000.”

Corporal Netherby says the money raised will be used for search and rescue equipment. He said the Search and Rescue team hopes to start a Nordic Search and Rescue function this year. all the people involved in the team are volunteers.
