In the second round of playing the Placer Hillmen, the Lady Bruins played a close game. At half time, the score was 27-24 Placer. By the time of the buzzer, the Hillmen had won with an ending score of 48-46. Because of this loss, Bear River, Colfax, and Placer were in a three way tie for PVL champs. In the end, all three schools were announced as Co-PVL Champs. The Lady Bruins will beĀ continuingĀ into playoffs.
As for the boys varsity basketball team, their second round of playing Placer was intense to say the least. At half time, the score was 25-28 Bear River. With a large superfan section and Placer keeping up throughout the whole game, the Bruins had a close game on their hands. In the last quarter, Placer gradually took the lead but the Bruins were not going to let them get away without a fight. Within the last few seconds of the game, the Hillmen had 49 points and the Bruins had 47. Michael Raigoza (Bear River) took a shot, missing, but luckily had Travis Anderson there to push the ball into the hoop as the buzzer went off. The superfan section, as well as the parent section, exploded with excitement as the game went into overtime. Overtime, like the whole game, was close but in the end the Placer Hillmen took home the victory with an ending score of 58-55.
