Seminar looks at Tree Disease and Fire Safety

The Nevada County Resource Conservation District is offering a free seminar on Tree Diseases and general Forestry Health in Nevada County, specifically the severity of the situation with bark beetles. Resource conservation district Director, Jan Blake says we live in a Mediterranean climate with long hot summers and this year could be a little dry so fire suppression will be an issue.

“Our speaker is a registered, professional forester and he’s going to talk about fire safety, forest health management, proper care of trees, spacing, how to keep an eye on them in case they are infested with some kind of beetle and what you can do.”

Methods to control beetles and other pests will be discussed as well as methods to identify damaging insects in the field.   The seminar will be Thursday, February 16th from 6-8pm at the BriarPatch Community Room. They have space for about 30 people.  To register   call Sabrina at the Nevada County Resource Conservation District at 272-3417 x 104 or e-mail sabrina.nicholson@ncrcd.org to register.
