Sentencing date set for Campbell

William Campbell was back in Nevada County Superior Court today. Campbell is the Lake of the Pines man arrested for financial crimes of defrauded dozens of local residents. Assists and District Attorney Anna Ferguson says Campbell plead no contest to 11 counts of false pretenses as felonies and named several victims. Ferguson is concerned about the sentencing process.

“Our deal is that he would face a maximum of eight years in prison. Judge Tom Anderson indicated that he’s considering undercutting our deal for a maximum of five years and eight months, which naturally, we do not agree with and we will oppose.”

Sentencing is set for October 3rd at 9am and many victims are expected to be present to give victim impact statements.
