Sheriff Seeks Help Apprehending School Thieves

A break-in at a local school has law enforcement asking for the public’s help. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says a break-in at Lyman Gilmore School was reported after midnight this (Tuesday) morning. The Sheriff says one of the classroom doors was pried open.

“When we checked further we found that one of the rooms had been forcibly entered where someone had taken some kind of pry tool, pried the bolt on the classroom and apparently when checked the class, they found that a stereo boom box was taken from the school.”

The Sheriff is asking for the public’s help in solving the break-in. He says the thieves were in such a hurry they forgot to take the charging cable with them. Anyone with information is urged to call the Sheriff at 265-7889. He says the damage to the door and frame was extensive.
