Sierra College Film Series Features Ghidotti Student Documentary on Homeless

The Sierra College Nevada County Campus kicks off its film and lecture series with a Ghidotti Student’s documentary on the homeless in Nevada County.

Jorey Kiva-Smith had never made a documentary before but was interested in film making when a family friend John Fletcher, a local activist and narrator of the film, encouraged Jorey to focus on the homeless. Jorey says he learned a lot and it changed his perspective and hope it does the same for viewers.

“Maybe they’ll get some information out of it. That’s my main goal. At least I hope people come away with a new perspective or just more information about the subject.”

Jorey Kiva-Smith’s documentary Homelessness in the Sierra Foothills, will show in the new Multipurpose Center on Tuesday, October 4th, at 7pm as part of the film and lectures series that features films, lectures and panel discussions of current topics of interests. Admission is free and the public is invited. The campus is located at 250 Sierra College Drive in Grass Valley.
