Two Nevada County healthcare providers are teaming up for a unique partnership to benefit patients – all under one roof.Western Sierra Medical Center, and Community Recovery Resources (CoRR), the region’s primary provider of substance abuse treatment services, announce the opening of a medical clinic operated by Western Sierra and located within the CoRR facility. Western Sierra Executive Director, Scott McFarland, says Wednesday was the first day of the new clinic and expansion of the partnership.
The clinic is believed to be the first ever federally qualified health clinic to be located at a substance abuse and mental health treatment program. The new partnership is meant to improve patients’ experience and access and allow patients from either organization to easily access the other’s services.
Integrated healthcare, including primary care, behavioral health, and specialty services like substance abuse treatment, is emerging as a key strategy to enhance patient experience; improve outcomes; and reduce healthcare costs.
One important element that contributes to success is the personal relationship that patients have with their counselors. McFarland says the new clinic capitalizes on those relationships.
