The Sister’s Closet clothing swap event now in its 4th year at Twin Cities Church is happening this weekend. Pastor, John Fairchild explains it’s an opportunity for all women to help other women during tough economic times by sharing clothing.
“For ladies, sometimes they tend to have more clothes than men and sometimes they don’t get worn a whole lot. So all of a sudden, they looked in their closets and realized there was a fair amount of clothing that either didn’t fit anymore or maybe they’ve never even worn and decided they didn’t like it and thought, ‘hey, here’s a chance to bring some clothes in and swap them, in a sense, with other sisters. So that’s the Sisters Closet terminology.”
Women are encouraged to drop off their donated women’s clothing and shoes between 3 and 7 pm this Friday at Twin Cities Church. Then Saturday from 9am to noon, the shopping begins and all women in the community are invited to choose clothing for free. You do not have to donate clothing to participate. Child care is also provided at no cost for mothers to shop, and Penny’s has donated clothing racks to make shopping convenient. Any remaining items will be donated to local agencies to assist the women of Nevada County.
