Soapbox Derby gets 10k from AJA Video

The Nevada City Soap box Derby has gotten a big boost to raising funds this year with a 10 thousand dollar sponsorship from AJA Video for the 2nd annual Nevada City Adult Soapbox Derby. Rich Bodine, organizer of the event says the Derby benefits Pioneer Park and there are plenty of project the money can go to.

“There are a lot of projects that could be done at the park; to put a bicycle, walking path around the entire park. There’s some interest from an Eagle Scout candidate in building a sand volleyball court. They need additional seating areas around the pool and they have an area earmarked for that, to fix up the lower baseball field and make it special like the other field, the back areas with the barbecues need some work. There’s a lot to be done.”

Nick Rashby, President of AJA Video Systems says AJA is proud to sponsor the Nevada City Soap Box Derby that offers not only a fun day of family activities, but also raises money to benefit Pioneer Park.

Registration for this year’s race will take place this Sunday January 29th from 2 to 5 pm at Matteo’s Public restaurant in downtown Nevada City. A $50 deposit is required to enter the lottery for the 25 racing position. If chosen, the deposit will be applied towards the $200 entry fee.
