Speeding Causes Accident on Magnolia Road

A driver going to fast was the likely cause of a head on collision on Magnolia Road Tuesday afternoon. CHP Officer Cindy Morgan says the accident happened near Rutherford Road and a 16 year old girl was driving a 2000 Toyota too fast when she struck a brand new VW Jetta driven by a 34 year old woman from Auburn. Officer Morgan describes what happened.

“There was a driver heading westbound on Magnolia and driving at an excessive speed. They failed to negotiate a curve in the road way, lost control of the vehicle, and hit another vehicle that was coming in the opposite direction eastbound.”

The force of the accident pushed both of the cars down into a creek bed off the road. Neither of the drivers received serious injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
