Standoff in Grass Valley

A one hour standoff at Bennett and E Main Street in Grass Valley ended peacefully Friday morning after Sheriff Negotiators were able to talk a man with knives into putting down his weapons and cooperating with authorities. Sergeant Jason Perry with the Grass Valley Police department was the officer in charge at the scene.

“Our officers were dispatched to a call of a disturbance between a male and a female and that the male was possibly armed with a knife. We responded and started a dialog with him. He was pretty agitated. We were able to get him to put down one of the knives. We requested the assistance of the Sheriff’s Department’s Negotiations Team. They arrived on scene. We turned the negotiations portion over to them and we were able to bring it to a successful end.”

No injuries were reported. Neither party has been identified at this time. The incident is still under investigation.
