Tax Assistance for Seniors

With tax season getting underway, Nevada County’s Senior Help Line is offering free tax help in addition to its other services. Susan Stratman is the Program Manager for “Helpline: Senior Information and Assistance”. She says they offer basic tax advice…

The tax service is for people of all ages, not just seniors. The Helpline provides many other services for Nevada County’s elderly.

Other services include an A-A-R-P driver safety class, health insurance counseling, and even telephone reassurance– where volunteers can talk to seniors who live alone. The Senior Helpline is funded by the United Way and the Area Agency on Aging. Stratman says they take over four thousand calls a year. The number is 273-2273 (Monday through Friday 9am-4pm).
