Author ~ Writing Coach ~ Presenter Creator of “Write Your Story Workshops” For 25 years Jan Fishler was a corporate scriptwriter, copywriter, video producer, and trainer, who also dabbled in marketing and public relations, mostly in the non-profit arena. In 2009 she self-published, Searching for Jane, Finding Myself (An Adoption Memoir), available at Amazon.com. and local bookstores. Because Jan knows that everyone has a story to tell, most recently, she developed a painless and fun method to help others write their story. Her Write Your Story workshop taps into the power of the subconscious so that stories come to life and practically write themselves. Jan is also the producer of "The Path to Publication" DVD series, available from Films for the Humanities and Sciences. Filmed at the Community of Writers Conference at Squaw Valley, the series contains advice from such well-known authors as Amy Tan, Anne Lamott, Janet Fitch, and Mark Childress. Jan has a B.S. in English Literature/Creative Writing and an M.S. in Educational Technology/Instructional Design. She lives in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada where, when she’s not writing, Jan hikes with her Golden Retriever, kayaks with her husband, and regularly works out at the gym. It’s the holiday season and my guests today (12:30-1:00) will be talking about two must-do happenings in our area.  The first half of the show I’ll be talking with Yelena Holt about the upcoming production of Clara and the Nutcracker–an adaptation of the traditional Christmas ballet.  The ballet will take place on December 11 and 12 at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center. Performance begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 general admission; $12 for children at the Miners Foundry or Briarpatch. More info at www.holtballetconservatory.org.
