The Generosity of the Community Continues

The generosity of the community continues. The Gold Country Community Center put out the call last week that due to a funding shortfall 38 seniors in our community were not getting a hot meal through the Meals on Wheels Program. Sandy Jacobson Executive Director Center who runs the meals on wheels program says 20 of those seniors are now getting meals.

As of Today (Tuesday) KNCO listeners donated nearly $33 hundred dollars. We are hoping to provide these hot meals at $8 dollars each until the end of the month which is also the end of the funding cycle. July first there will be a new state funding budget for Meals onWheels to once again provide meals to seniors in our community.

To make a donation you can drop a monetary donation off at 841 Old Tunnel Road In Grass Valley at the Senior Apartments or here at the Studios of KNCO Radio at the corner of Dorsey and East Main in Grass Valley.

Mary, you and all of the KNCO staff are amazing. As of 5:40 pm on June 19th, we have raised $3,965 since you and our other media friends have taken up our plea to Adopt a Senior. based on the funding we have received since last Friday at 12 noon, we will be able to enroll every eligible senior from our waiting list. We are making the necessary calls and will have everybody on board by the end of the week.

Way to go Mary, KNCO and Nevada County! I wish you all could see the lives you've brightened.
