Stricter standards for tattoo artists will be imposed in Nevada County. Nevada County Environmental health staff and body art business owners have worked together to develop a program to implement AB300, the Safe Body Art Act. Nevada County Environmental Health director Wesley Nicks explains the regulations will create a state standard for public health safety.

The Safe Body Art act was signed into law October 9 of 2011 and applies to all commercial body art facilities including tattoos, piercings and permanent cosmetics. This law also applies to permanent, temporary and mobile body art facilities. The compliance date for registration and facility permitting is July 1st of 2012.
