Thefts are on the Rise During the Holidays

The thefts from cars and homes are on the increase. Nevada County Sheriff Keith Royal says he is seeing an increase in the reported crimes of theft and burglary. The Sheriff says the thieves are after Christmas presents. One of the disturbing things that are being reported is the theft from unlocked homes and car.

“Generally what we find, though, is a lot of the thefts and burglaries occur from unlocked residences or unlocked cars where presents are visible or in cars that are locked and presents are visible.”

The Sheriff is asking everyone to not make it easy for thieves. He says lock your homes and cars and do not leave present in plain sight.
